We are OBSESSED with sublimation! However, it does have some limitations when it comes to the fabrics that it can sublimate on. Ideally, you’d use a 100% polyester white shirt to sublimate on, but if you’re like us, there aren’t a whole lot of white shirt in our wardrobe for a reason. While you theoretically can sublimate on other light color polyester shirts, the shirt color will affect your sublimation design. That’s because most sublimation inks don’t have a way to lay down a white base. However, you can create your OWN white base with glitter heat transfer vinyl (HTV).
It’s important to note here that not alllllll white iron-on materials will give you a lasting effect. The reason that glitter HTV works for sublimation is because the glitter itself is made of a poly material. There are a couple of other HTVs that will work, but we haven’t tried those…yet. For now, we love how the glitter HTV makes your sublimation design sparkle.
There are quite a few steps and details that you’ll need to know to have a successful sublimation on white glitter HTV, but we have you covered!
