We’ve been on a kick with the Cricut Mug Press. This little machine is just so much fun to work with – it heats up quickly, is easy to use, and it generates significantly less mess than our usual DIYs – ha! Best of all, the results are just stunning.

For those who don’t know, the Cricut Mug Press is a cylindrical heat press that aids in sublimating designs onto mugs and other round sublimation blanks. Sublimation is where special ink turns into a gas when heated and then infuses onto a surface. Cricut has Infusible Ink, but you can also use designs you print out using a sublimation printer (or an Epson Inkjet Printer that you have converted. See how we turned the Epson EcoTank 2720 into a sublimation printer here). While Cricut encourages you to use their special sublimation mugs in the Cricut Mug Press, you can use tons of other sublimation blanks within certain sizes.

So after our first few videos, one of our awesome maker friends said that it was great that you can press mugs and stuff, but he then asked, “What else can you do with it?” That got our creative juices flowing, and we decided to use some fun sublimation blanks from Johnson Plastics Plus to make creative gifts using the Cricut Mug Press.
